Supernatural focus

Startups take perseverance. Routines help focus the mind and keep you on track. Nothing helps both like fitness.

Welcome to the first installment of my new approach and focus on starting up. Of course, this all revolves around and my drive to move through the pandemic with purpose.

As a Black Belt in Karate, I formed a strong sense of discipline and focus. I maintained that well into my thirties. Helping run a studio while creating startups was second nature to me. Later, of course, I slacked off as most people do. It was nice to be free of the regiment, physical pain, and demanding schedules that kept me away from my new family. My kids were growing, business was good, and my focus was where it should be. On them.

Today I am revisiting the old me. My children are grown, my wife is a fantastic teacher, cook, gardener, and companion. Now is the time to start something new. It takes a solid fitness program to kick start your energy and desire to fight the good fight. But is the old model the right one?

Welcome to 2020—a palindrom of vision. What worked in the past won’t work in the future. It’s time for a change at every level. The abused body of my 20-year-old self won’t translate well to my 55-year-old self. And maybe that’s the point.

VR is the new world of technology. AR is just around the corner. That is why I invested in Oculus Quest and Supernatural.

This game is like Beat-saber tailored to working out. A fantastic and engaging way to shape up. It’s not 100% complete in terms of total fitness. But nothing is. This allows you to have a full-body workout, engaging music, motivational trainers, and one hell of a good time. All in the comfort of your living room and global landscapes. It’s a fantastic way to get your heart rate up while you put your heart into starting something new.

Why do I advocate this product and any others like it? Simple. It’s not only a good workout, but it’s fantastic mind tuning. Adding music to a workout is nice. But adding six-axis interactions with timed strikes that force you to concentrate is magnificent. Each time you find a pattern to follow, you lock into a new model of training. It’s a little dance, swordplay, balance, and of course, workout.

A startup comes at you from all sides. It develops some patterns over time but will always have twists and turns. By using a product like Quest and Supernatural in addition to a classic workout, you increase your dynamic range and cognitive flexibility. It’s a vital tune-up that will pay dividends. Needless to say, the ROI is there if you invest in yourself! Cheers!
